The AAPPL is designed to emphasize the relationship between classroom performance and real-world language proficiency. While spontaneity is a hallmark of proficiency, proficiency does not develop spontaneously. In keeping with our motto, “practice makes proficient,” ACTFL releases general topics annually that allow teachers to create classroom- and homework-based opportunities for students to practice tasks across all modes of communication within familiar contexts.
AAPPL Tasks
ACTFL’s Assessment of Performance towards Proficiency in Languages (AAPPL) brings the 5 C’s of the World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages into a modern proficiency and performance-assessment environment. To that end, students are presented with a series of tasks in each communication mode. These tasks are informed by the functions described in the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.
